Google Workspace groups visibility

Passwd uses your Google Workspace groups to manage access and collaboration. In some organizations, however, certain groups should not be visible to non-admin users. This can help prevent confusion, reduce clutter, and avoid exposing internal or restricted groups.

Why hide some groups

You may want to hide groups when:

  • The groups are internal and should be visible only to admins.
  • The groups are legacy or technical groups that should not be used by end users.
  • You want users to select only approved groups in everyday workflows.

Configure groups visibility

If you are a Passwd admin:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Navigate to Google Workspace groups visibility.
  3. Select which groups should stay visible to non-admin users.
  4. Save your changes.

After saving, hidden groups remain available for admins but are no longer shown to non-admin users.
