Managing vaults
Tier: Professional, Enterprise
Create a Team vault
Only Passwd admins can create Team vaults.
- Open Settings and select Manage vaults.
- Click Add new vault.
- Enter a Name (1–100 characters). Names don't have to be unique.
- Use Add user and Add group to choose who gets access, and set a role for each.
- Click Create vault.
You are added to the vault as an Editor automatically. Every vault needs at least one Editor, so you can't create a vault with only Viewers or remove its last Editor.
Roles
| Role | Can do |
|---|---|
| Viewer | See the vault and read its records. |
| Editor | Everything a Viewer can, plus add, edit, move, and delete the vault's records, rename the vault, change its members, and delete it. |
If someone is a member both directly and through a group, the strongest role applies.
Vault roles are separate from the roles you give on a single record. A person gets the highest access they have from any source: the record's own sharing, their role in the vault, or being an admin.
Edit or delete a vault
In Settings → Manage vaults, use Edit vault to rename it or change members and roles. Use Delete vault to remove it.
Deleting a vault never deletes its records. They stay available and keep their sharing, they just move to No vault.
Add a record to a vault
- Create a new record or edit an existing one.
- In the Assign vault field, choose the vault.
- Save the record.
To take a record out of a vault, set Assign vault back to No vault.
You need to be an Editor of the vault you move a record into. When moving a record from one vault to another, you also need to be an Editor of the vault it comes from.
Find your vaults
- Left menu: the Vaults section lists your vaults. Select one to see only its records.
- All records: filter by vault, or choose No vault to see records that aren't in any vault.
- Search: in All records, search finds records and also vaults by name. Inside a vault, search covers only that vault's records.
